The most interesting news regarding the 2013 Audi R8 is the introduction of a new seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch tranmission, with Audi deciding to stay clear of the clunky R tronic automated manual setup which plagued previous models. A six-speed manual is still also available on some of the models.

The other major update is the addition of a new range-topping R8 V10 plus model.

A noticeable change from previous models is a revised headlight design on all the new R8′s. The front grille remains similar to the current model, as does the side air dams and splitter, although these too are new. An optional extra includes a front splitter made of carbon fiber, this is standard on the R8 V10 plus.

LED detailing can be found at the rear, including around the engine bay. The indicators for the tail lights also cleverly light up in pattern towards the outside of the unit, in the direction of which the driver turns. Finally, all models have a twin exhaust pipe design with a glossy finish, though the pipes on the R8 V10 plus are painted black.

The engine lineup remains the same, with the base 4.2-litre V8 producing 430bhp and 317 lb-ft of torque.

The Audi R8 V8 Spyder will deliver 0-60mph times of around 4.5 seconds and a similar top speed, and the V10 Spyder figures are 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and 193mph top speed.

The 5.2-litre V10 continues with its power rating of 525bhp and 390 lb-ft of torque. This matched with the same dual-clutch tranmission sees the R8′s 0-60mph time drop to 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 195mph.

The most exciting model of the range is the 2013 Audi R8 V10 Plus. This model delivers 550bhp and 398 lb-ft of torque. Match this with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and you have a supercar that will produce 0-60mph times of around 3.5 seconds and a top speed of nearly 200mph.

All the R8′s get double wishbone suspension forged from aluminium, but the R8 V10 plus gets springs and shock absorbers that have been specially tuned, and the camber values at the front axle have been adapted accordingly. The Audi magnetic ride adaptive damping is a standard feature on the R8 V10 and is an optional extra on the V8 variats; it offers a normal and sports mode.

The lightest model of the 2013 Audi R8 range is the R8 V8 coupe which equipped with manual transmission, tips the scales at 3,439 lbs. Options to help lower the weight include light alloy wheels, carbon fiber sports seats and carbon ceramic brakes.
