Posted on , by Nick Preston
The 1969 film the Italian Job is well known for featuring some of the best chase scenes of all time, as three Mini Cooper S models try to escape from the police on the streets and in the storm drains of Turin, Italy.
To honour both this 1969 film and the British athletes participating in the London Olympic Games (some whom have cameo appearances), Mini have released a video called The Britalian Job.
This short film, directed by Top Gear’s lead director, Phil Churchward, features iconic London landmarks and Park Lane Motors, where the Mini Coopers are dispatched from in this remake, who played a part in the original film.
Daley Thompson, well known British decathlete who won Olympic gold medals in 1980 and 1984, features as the “Dispatcher” in The Britalian Job.
The villain on the motorcycle is played by Jodie Kidd, whilst she’s not an Olympian, the fashion model turned actress is a fan of all things fast. Jodie is also one of the quickest celebrities to get behind the wheel on the Top Gear test track and she also participates in numerous Gumball 3000 rallies.
