Mercedes And AMG Celebrate 45 Years Of Passion: Video
Posted on , by Nick Preston
It’s hard to believe that the relationship between Mercedes-Benz and AMG stretches back some 45 years, starting in 1967. Founded by a pair of former Mercedes-Benz engineers, AMG originally developed engines for competing in motorsports.
Today, AMG is best known for pushing Mercedes-Benz luxury vehicles to their limits, delivering unparalleled performance. To commemorate this partnership of 45 years, a party just wouldn’t cut it, so AMG have created a special version of the SL65 AMG roadster which will be available for 45 lucky buyers.
Details are unavailable for this 45th Anniversary special edition SL65 AMG, but you can expect it will come with a forced-induction V12 which is used to power the standard SL65 AMG which delivers 621bhp with 738 lb-ft of torque, so these 45 lucky buyers are in for a treat.
Outside, the car looks to be sprayed in a matte grey finish, and you can expect that every conceivable optional extra has been ticked off for the inside. The list price is anyone’s guess but we expect it will cost considerably more than the SL65 AMG’s £130,000 ($203,000) price tag.
If you want one of these special edition SL65 AMG’s then i suggest you contact your nearest AMG retailed ASAP as i guarantee that all 45 of these examples will be built and sold very quickly.
