This video shows Sean Kennedy driving Mark Heidaker’s twin-turbo Ford GT to a new half mile speed record.
Last March, Kennedy hit speeds of 257.7mph in the standing mile at the Texas Mile event, beraking the 204mph mark at the half way mile.
However, just last weekend conditions were good enough for Kennedy to run a speed of 212.9mph in the half mile, a speed which is makes its way into the record books. It sounds like the team racing this Ford GT is on pace to hit their previously stated goal of topping 260mph in this standing mile event, but we won’t know for sure until the Texas Mile event in October.
The Ford GT in question packs around 2000bhp thanks to its Accufab Racing V8 engine with a pair of Precision Turbochargers. The tuning for this monster GT was handled by Shane Tecklenburg, and Hennessey Performance Engineering who also played a part in the car setting this incredible record.
