Rimac’s 1088BHP Electric Car: Rubber Burning Video
Posted on , by Nick Preston
Croatia’s Rimac Automobili is set to prove that electric cars aren’t all boring, and they are more than capable of out-matching the majority of supercars today in both luxury and performance.
Rimac’s electric car, labelled the ‘Concept One’, is a 1088bhp monster and there will be only 88 sold worldwide.
If you’re interested in the Concept One you’ll have to fork out over £600,000 ($980,000), but what you’ll have in return is one of the most unique cars on the planet.
This video was produced after many Rimac fans requested footage showing off the Concept One’s performance. The video demonstrates what four electric motors with a combined output of 1088bhp and 2800lb-ft of torque can do. It’s only a teaser but the company plan on releasing an extended clip in the near future.
The Rimac Concept One is powered by a 92Kwh liquid-cooled battery array which is capable of taking the car for an impressive distance of 372 miles from a single charge. Each of the four electric motors can be driven independently and are controlled by sophisticated software. Other important performance statistics are that the car will go from 0-60mph in an incredible 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 190mph.
The idea behind this project came about from the companies founder Mate Rimac who decided to convert a classic BMW into an electric race car. Rimac was immediately impressed with the performance of an electrically driven car, and today the company develops high performance technology including drivetrains and battery systems which are sold to other firms in the industry.
